Letter from APNF Founders
As a relatively new philanthropy, our past is barely tenured, but our direction is clear. We are committed to making a measurable difference in the lives of those who perhaps need us most, one small step at a time, one community at a time. We are dedicated to navigating communities upward.
Our grantees are agents of change who make enormous contributions to our two distinct priorities: improving public middle school education and teacher training, and implementing effective solar energy programs in the United States.
We see our education system in need of clear change. It is a system built on a 1940s model that fails both our best and brightest, and our underserved populations. We are working towards a point where our society realizes the immense returns on its investments when we nurture and educate our nation’s most precious resource – our youth.
At the same time, our nation is now realizing the untapped potential and value of solar technology and other renewable energy sources. The environmental and societal benefits of a reduced reliance on fossil fuels grow every day. We see our involvement in funding solar energy programs as a pivotal compass for change.
The work we do together today is important and urgent. We bring a model to philanthropy that leads with our hearts and finishes with our minds. Goals and purpose are important, as is measureable and sustainable accountability.
We recognize that the change we are working toward will not happen overnight. And it doesn’t happen alone. To other foundations and donors with like-minded missions, we invite you to collaborate and coalesce resources with us to advance our collective mission to improve public middle school education and implement effective solar energy initiatives.
We choose all points North. Let’s head there – together.
